The Breadknife and Grand High Tops Walk, Warrumbingle National Park, NSW.

The Breadknife and Grand High Tops Walk, 14.5 km loop, Grade 4, about 6 hours:

This is an iconic walk with amazing views and we rate it in the top two walks that we have ever done! However, good fitness is required as it is basically about five kilometers of steadily climbing up a seemingly endless series of steps. We didn't actually do the full circuit because we only had two days to choose from, one was a wet day and one was predicted to be 40 degrees Celsius. We chose the hot day and departed early however, when we got to the Grand High Tops we turned around and returned the way we had come as that seemed prudent in the extreme heat and cut the walk back to about 12 kilometers. On the way down we encountered several people attempting the climb up and frankly, most of them didn't look like they would make it as they were clearly struggling with the heat and their fitness. Hopefully, we will return one day and do the full circuit.

Camp Pincham walkers campground.
The walk starts from the Pincham car park. Pincham Campground is a walkers campground and is a short distance into the walk. There are a couple of handy spots to rest along the way.

There are good views of Belougery Spire along the way. The track goes right past the base of the Breadknife.

We saw plenty of wildlife. In the lower area, near the start of the walk we saw a good variety of birds and Red-necked Wallabies. We saw a Swamp Wallaby higher up and there were lots of lizards basking in the sun throughout the walk.
